WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, Congresswoman Betty McCollum announced her support for legislation introduced by House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro which would fund critical components of the Department of Homeland Security without providing additional funding for ICE or Customs and Border Protection.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum, the Dean of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation, voted no on the legislation. Upon passage of the bill, the Congresswoman issued the following statement:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Monday, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D, MN-04) sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem demanding that DHS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) immediately cease all operations in Minnesota. Additionally, the Congresswoman is seeking prompt answers to nearly a dozen questions concerning DHS’s reported search for a potential ICE detention facility in Woodbury.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D, MN-04) announced her support for the removal or impeachment of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.

“Secretary Noem should be fired. If she is not, I support impeachment by the House and conviction by the Senate for her obstruction of Congress and violation of the public trust,” said Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D, MN-04), the Dean of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on two War Powers Resolutions aimed at curtailing the Trump Administration’s illegal actions in the Caribbean. The first resolution, H.Con.Res.61, would direct the withdrawal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities with presidentially designated terrorist organizations in the Western Hemisphere. The second resolution, H.Con.Res.64, would direct the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Venezuela that have not been authorized by Congress. Both measures failed.
