Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition H.R. 35.

This bill is a solution that has already been addressed in law. Right now, the House of Representatives has important work to do. The deadline to fund the government is one only month away, and the price of eggs is skyrocketing under President Trump. But instead of addressing these problems, Republicans put forward the same messaging bill we voted on last Congress.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to H.R. 30.

H.R. 30 undermines the basic constitutional protection of a person being innocent until proven guilty. It subjects immigrants, including those who have been victims of domestic violence, to new grounds of inadmissibility and deportability that do not require a conviction in court. This is an ominous step toward the erosion of the rights of all people in the United States, including citizens.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) released the following statement today on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:

“Twenty-three years ago today, the United States endured an unimaginable tragedy on September 11, 2001. Today, we honor those who died, the courage of the heroes who responded, and the American people whose spirit lives on.

Ms. McCollum: Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to Republicans using Police Week to push divisive legislation in the House that takes away local control from communities, weakens gun safety laws, and dehumanizes immigrants.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in strong opposition to H. Res. 957.

We have all seen what is unfolding on our southern border, and the humanitarian and security issues it raises. The complex problems facing our immigration system need comprehensive reform, not more rhetoric and demonization of immigrants.
