Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.), Chair of the Interior-Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, and Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, issued the following statement today following the decision by the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., to uphold the Trump administration's revival of previously-cancelled mining leases in the Rainy River Watershed in northern Minnesota:

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) today invited high school students in Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District to participate in the 2020 Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery." Submissions are due Wednesday, April 15, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. CT.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) and colleagues have introduced the Hmong and Lao Refugee Deportation Prohibition Act of 2020 to stop the Trump administration from deporting individuals to the Lao People's Democratic Republic (P.D.R.) for 72 months while individuals with Final Orders for Removal have their immigration cases reassessed. The Trump administration is currently negotiating with the Lao P.D.R. on a repatriation agreement that would deport at least 4,700 individuals to Laos.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.), Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, held a field hearing in St. Paul on Monday, Feb. 25, 2020, to gather testimony from stakeholders on funding priorities for Fiscal Year 2021.

Chair McCollum heard testimony from two dozen witnesses representing academia, tribes, government entities, and community groups. A recap of the witness testimony is below.

H.Res.861 highlights GAVI's twenty years of success in saving the lives of children in the world's poorest countries by improving access to new and underutilized vaccines. Since 2000, 760 million children have received immunizations, preventing the deaths of more than 13 million people.
