Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) helped pass the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act, which includes three critical projects in St. Paul: $5.2 million in federal funding for ReConnect Rondo, $6.9 million for the Rice Street Revitalization Project, and $7.5 million for the Kellogg-Third Street Bridge.

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense today approved by voice vote its fiscal year 2022 funding bill.

For 2022, the bill provides total funding of $705.939 billion, an increase of $9.978 billion above 2021. This modest increase is in line with President Biden's budget request and has been endorsed by the Secretary of Defense. In total, the bill provides for $706.453 billion in discretionary and mandatory funding.

The legislation funds agencies and programs in the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community, including the Services, Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency.

The bill addresses prenatal substance exposure through early intervention—by providing support through programs and funding for prevention efforts and for individuals and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
