Good afternoon to everyone, and welcome to Washington, DC. Thank you to the US Geological Survey Coalition for this presenting me with this Leadership Award. Thank you Harvey for your introduction.
I am proud to hail from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. A state fortunate to have as much water above as below. And home to the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area located in the middle of a bustling urban setting.
Good morning. Thank you, Doug, for that introduction. And thanks to the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce for organizing this event. Matt Kramer and the Chamber are great partners for me and for my office.

The people of this community are sending a message to everyone who drives by that they support wind energy and want to see more of it.
Wind energy is popular here and across Minnesota because:
Thank you to USAID for organizing this evening's event. I'm honored to be here to celebrate and recognize the efforts to improve maternal health in Afghanistan, the Dominican Republic, Cambodia, and Rwanda.
I thank the City of Saint Paul -- Mayor Coleman and Anne Hunt, as well as Drive Electric Minnesota, Xcel Energy, and all of our allies here today for their tireless work to create the partnerships necessary to make this city and Minnesota a leader by example on clean energy. This project is yet more evidence that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is helping to re-power America.
On March 23, 2010, Congress passed and President Obama signed into law historic health care reform legislation: the Affordable Care Act.
