Information regarding my stance on Veterans' issues.

During the Vietnam War another “secret war” was taking place in Laos with thousands of Hmong fighters assisting the U.S. The Hmong who risked their lives for the freedom of their country and in the aid of the U.S. suffered tremendously as they served with great courage.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of H.R. 5854, the FY13 Military Construction-VA Appropriations Act. This subcommittee has a strong record of bipartisan collaboration and I want to commend Subcommittee Chairman Culberson and Ranking Member Bishop for their leadership in advancing this important bill.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-DFL) joined her Democratic and Republican colleagues on the Military Construction – Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee in unanimously supporting the $71.7 billion fiscal year 2013 spending bill. The bill now moves to the full House Appropriations Committee for further consideration.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today as a proud cosponsor of H.R. 3220, a bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 170 Evergreen Square SW in Pine City, MN as the Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder Post Office.
