The Honorable Betty McCollum
United States House of Representatives

Dear Representative McCollum,
As members of the Institute Leadership Team for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, we are writing to express our profound gratitude to you for sponsoring the House Resolution honoring Catholic Sisters’ contribution to the nation.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong opposition to H.R. 4628, which places partisan politics ahead of America's students and the health of Minnesota communities.
This Republican budget is a political document. It is the House Republican's platform for November. This GOP platform puts our economy and millions of jobs at risk. They gut protections for seniors and families in need. And, they abandon local communities at a time when Washington should be a partner for opportunity and economic growth.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) congratulated nine students from Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District on their acceptance to four U.S. military academies. These military institutions require a nomination from a Member of Congress for admission.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in opposition to H.R. 471, the private school voucher program for the District of Columbia.
This bill would revive the ineffective and inefficient D.C. voucher program. The bill authorizes $100 million over the next five years for only 1.3 percent of students to receive vouchers in D.C. – with no offset for the funding.
