WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN), and Representative Betty McCollum (D-MN) are pressing Postmaster General Steiner not to relocate retail services from the downtown White Bear Lake Post Office. The current location is convenient, allowing customers to access its services without relying on transportation, and is well situated for local businesses.

President Trump and Congressional Republicans have forced our country into a government shutdown, but my office remains open, and my staff will continue to serve the people of Minnesota’s Fourth Congressional district. However, some constituent service requests will be delayed as federal agencies are forced to furlough workers. East Metro residents and all Minnesotans have my word that I will do everything within my power to work across the aisle to end this shutdown as soon as possible.

Washington, D.C.  Sending thoughts and prayers is not enough. Congress needs to act to end gun violence. When we visit a federal facility, go to a concert, attend religious service, or go to school, we deserve to know that we’re safe.

Rutherford (R-FL), would bestow the highest civilian award given by the United States Congress to over 250,000 Americans who’ve volunteered for the Peace Corps since its inception.

Statements For the Record

Mister Speaker,

I join all my colleagues in this body, my constituents, and the American people at large in denouncing all forms of political and ideological violence.

Democracy relies on the core principle of nonviolence.

We settle our disputes with ballots, not with bullets.

But as a social studies teacher, I can also recount a dark history of times when we lost our way as a nation, and violence was used to silence the voices of debate and sow division.

Mr. Speaker, I strongly object to this censure resolution which does not include a single quote from Representative Ilhan Omar (MN-05) and seeks to punish her for comments she never said.  After the unconscionable act of gun violence that took the life of Charlie Kirk, Representative Omar clearly and immediately condemned this assassination. She expressed her profound shock, sadness, grief about this despicable act of political violence. She expressed sympathy and empathy for Mr. Kirk’s wife and young daughters who are enduring unimaginable pain and sorrow.
