Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) today urged her colleagues to oppose House Republicans' tax bill that makes higher education more expensive for students and working families in Minnesota and across the United States. According to their own estimates, House Republicans' bill will increase the cost of higher education to American students and their families by at least $65 billion over the next 10 years.
U.S. Representatives Betty McCollum, Keith Ellison, Rick Nolan, Collin Peterson, and Tim Walz wrote to House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady today urging them to reject proposals to eliminate the state and local tax (SALT) deduction.
"As Minnesotans, we write to express our strong concerns about recent proposals to eliminate the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction," the lawmakers wrote. "We strongly urge you to reject this misguided proposal that would harm our state."
