The continuing resolution included a provision allowing sugarbeet cooperative processors to qualify for disaster assistance funding from the Supplemental aid bill passed in June.

Today, U.S. Reps. Betty McCollum (MN-04), Angie Craig (MN-02), and Ron Kind (WI-03) sent a letter to the Office of Management and Budget pushing for the distribution of $100 million for the Army Corps of Engineers to address the impacts of this spring's devastating floods along the Mississippi River. The funds were included in the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act, and were signed into law by President Trump in June 2019. Those funds have not yet been disbursed so the Army Corps can do their jobs.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) issued the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 397, the Rehabilitation for Multiemployer Pensions Act, also known as the Butch Lewis Act. H.R. 397 would stabilize multiemployer pension plans by establishing a government-backed loan program to avoid having to drastically cut pensioners' benefits as well as reducing the unsustainable liabilities of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation ("PBGC").
