I rise today in support of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act 2012 (H.R. 2112). This legislation combines three fiscal year 2012 appropriations measures: Agriculture; Commerce-Justice-Science; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. H.R. 2112 also includes a short-term continuing resolution that will fund the remainder of the federal government through December 16.

Congress remains absolutely committed to supporting our veterans and passing legislation that benefits them and their families. As a member of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans, I have a unique privilege of making sure that our military families receive federal funding they have earned. I'm proud to say we have once again provided advanced funding for the VA Department.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to H.R. 2273, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act. This bill represents yet another attempt by Republicans to put the interests of polluters ahead of public health and the well-being of our communities.
