Thank you all for having me here to speak with you today. Thank you for the introduction, and thank you to NIEA’s President, Dr. Heather Shotton, for the invitation.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 21, 2013) - Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., and several policy makers traveled with the global poverty-fighting organization CARE on a Learning Tour to South Sudan and Tanzania to better understand the challenges and solutions to food security and nutrition in each country.

In 2012, our country suffered 16 mass shootings with 151 fatalities. The brutal trend is a symptom of a larger problem: widespread gun violence. All Members of Congress have a duty to their constituents to address specific legal loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to commit violent acts with guns.
