McCollum Statement on Veterans Day 2023

November 9, 2023

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) released the following statement today in honor of Veterans Day:

“On Veterans Day, we take time to recognize those who have served our nation in the U.S. Armed Forces. We honor their commitment, bravery, and sacrifices to protect the ideals and freedoms we cherish as Americans. We thank all who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines. These Americans who raised their hands to serve our nation deserve our gratitude. That’s why it’s important that our actions reflect our appreciation. I have worked to expand the availability of high quality, affordable health care, including passing the PACT Act to ensure veterans receive all the benefits they are entitled to, and protecting GI education benefits and workforce training opportunities.

“We also honor the sacrifices made at home by the families and loved ones of our service members. As veterans return home and take on new challenges following military service, know that my office stands ready to help. This Veterans Day, join me in honoring and remembering veterans' bravery and service in defending the United States at home and abroad.”

Congresswoman McCollum was proud to join the National Association of Counties, including Ramsey County Commissioner Trista Martinson, and Rep. Molinaro in promoting Operation Green Light for Veterans, an initiative connecting veterans with county support services. You may see buildings illuminated in green through Veterans Day in honor of this initiative.

A livestream of the 2023 State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program is planned. Additional Fourth District Veterans Day observations will take place in Woodbury, North St. Paul, Stillwater, and Mahtomedi. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery will be held Saturday, November 11. More information here.
