Economy & Jobs

I hear from Minnesotans every day about their concerns over the state of our economy and rising economic inequality. While we have made a strong recovery from the Great Recession, we have more to do to create good-paying jobs for all working families.
I strongly support investments in education and infrastructure that will make us more competitive. To stimulate economic growth and job creation, the government needs to ensure a fair playing field that protects both workers and businesses. I support legislation that promotes a thriving middle class and ensures that working people in America still have the opportunity to achieve success in our country.

Congresswoman McCollum's Statement on The Tea Party Republican Union-Busting and Job Outsourcing Act
Mr. Speaker, once again this Tea Party Republican majority is determined to ignore the jobs crisis in this country and instead focus the energy and efforts of Congress on busting unions and attacking the federally protected rights of workers to organize. This legislation is a direct assault on workers' rights in order to protect the profits of one corporation -- Boeing. This legislation essentially tells 14 millions unemployed Americans that their needs are irrelevant as long as there is a CEO in America who wants to crush a union.
