Congresswoman McCollum Tours Children’s Hospital
Last week, Congresswoman McCollum met with leaders from Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul to learn about the latest innovative and high-quality health care Children’s provides. She toured the new Children’s Hospital Association Storyland Garden; visited the new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with private rooms for patients and their families; toured the updated Emergency Department, which serves 45,000 patients each year; and toured construction of the future Ronald McDonald House, Child Life Zone, Sibling Play and Family Resource Center.

Alzheimer’s Roundtable Features Congresswoman McCollum, Experts, and Families Affected by Disease
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter and Congresswoman McCollum hosted an Alzheimer’s roundtable discussion, which was attended by experts, advocates, and affected families. She gave a federal update and highlighted her support of the following bills:

  • Health Outcomes, Planning, and Education for Alzheimer's Act (H.R.1507): provides comprehensive diagnosis and services for Alzheimer’s disease within Medicare
  • Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Act (H.R. 2975): authorizes grants to public and non-profit organizations to expand training and support services for families and caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease
  • Missing Alzheimer’s disease Patient Alert Program Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2976): reauthorizes a Department of Justice program that helps local communities and law enforcement officials quickly identify persons with Alzheimer’s disease who wander and reunite them with their families.

Minnesota Kicks Off National Night Out
August 6 marked the 30th National Night Out – an evening dedicated to preventing crime in our communities and fostering a partnership with local law enforcement. Communities throughout Minnesota’s Fourth Congressional District held events to celebrate National Night Out. Congresswoman McCollum joined in the festivities, and she met with local law enforcement and community leaders.

August 15: McCollum to be Guest on MPR’s Daily Circuit
On Thursday, August 15, Congresswoman McCollum will join Congressman Keith Ellison on MPR’s Daily Circuit to discuss the latest developments in Congress and take your calls. Tune in at 9 AM.
