Save the Date: McCollum Announces Dedication Ceremony for Mayor Sandberg Post Office on June 22

Congresswoman McCollum will host a rededication ceremony on Monday June 22, at 10:30am to posthumously rename the North St. Paul Post Office after Mayor William “Bill” Sandberg, who passed away on April 20, 2008. Last June, Congresswoman McCollum introduced H.R. 6229 to rename the North St. Paul Post Office. The legislation was passed in the House and Senate and signed into law.

“Honoring Mayor Sandberg’s life and legacy by naming the North St. Paul Post Office after him is just a small tribute to his many accomplishments. I want to thank his daughter Karen, and grandchildren Carolyn and William for supporting this important effort to pay homage to Bill,” McCollum said.

Congresswoman McCollum will host a public hearing on Monday, June 22 to hear from the public about the potential future use of the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) in Arden Hills. The U.S. Army has determined that TCAAP’s 585 acres are excess federal land and is working to transfer the property, possibly through a public auction. TCAAP is an environmentally contaminated site that will require remediation for future use.

Fourth District residents are invited to offer their thoughts regarding the future use of TCAAP. Individuals wishing to make a statement will be allotted two minutes to provide testimony. Congresswoman McCollum will be present to listen to the public’s feedback, as well as take testimony from local elected officials.
