Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District Receives NEA Grants
Earlier this month, the National Endowment for the Arts announced that Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District would receive matching grants to help create or maintain creation artistically excellent work. NEA grants generate, on average, six dollars from non-federal sources for each dollar awarded.

The grantees are:

History Theatre, Inc., St. Paul ($20,000) – Funds will support the premiere of 1968: The Play (working title) that will run in conjunction with the St. Paul's History Center's installation 1968: The Exhibit (working title).

Hmong Cultural Center Inc., St. Paul ($10,000) – The grant will help pay for the development of a Hmong embroidery educational website.

IFP-Minnesota (Center for Media Arts), St. Paul ($30,000) – IFP will use this grant to fund educational activities, access to film and video equipment for media artists in the region, and a screening series.

Minnesota State Arts Board, St. Paul ($787,600) – The NEA grant will support activities as outlined in the partnership agreement.

Public Art St. Paul, St. Paul ($20,000) – Public Art St. Paul will put this grant towards the conservation of the 1907 cast bronze sculpture of Johann Christ of Frederich von Schiller by Ignatius Taschner in Como Park.

Skylark Opera, St. Paul ($20,000) – This grant will support the fourth annual Summer Opera Festival.

Springboard for the Arts, St. Paul ($25,000) – Funds will help a Springboard for the Arts pilot project.

Congresswoman McCollum Leads Friends of Norway Caucus
This month, Congresswoman McCollum was selected to lead the Friends of Norway Caucus – a group of Members of Congress who are support the traditions and values of Norway. There are over five million Americans who are of Norwegian descent, and many of them call Minnesota home.

May Marks Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Congress designated May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month to recognize the historic, valuable contributions that Asians and Pacific Islanders have made to our country. Congresswoman McCollum – a member of the Asian Pacific American Caucus – signed onto a Congressional resolution that honors Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
