Washington, DC - Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) issued the following statement regarding the ethics charges against Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY):
"Congressman Charlie Rangel has served our Nation honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor, and for years in the U.S. House of Representatives. The ethics charges against Mr. Rangel are very serious. The ethics process call for the Members of the House to conduct a trial to judge Mr. Rangel's actions, according to the House standards of official conduct. I intend to fulfill my responsibility to be fair and to hold Mr. Rangel to the same standard of conduct to which all Members of the U.S. House of Representatives are accountable."
