McCollum Responds to Ryan Budget Proposal

April 2, 2014
Press Release

Washington, DC – Today, Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) released his budget framework for Fiscal Year 2015.  Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN) released the following statement in response:

“Let’s be clear, Congress already passed a law four months ago establishing a budget target for 2015. The plan released by Chairman Paul Ryan is not a real budget, but a political manifesto to appeal to an audience of Tea Party extremists and Obama-haters – the House Republican majority.

“I would expect every House Republican to vote for this Ryan blueprint that abandons America’s middle class and punishes the poor.  Democrats will vote against it. The American people will then have a clear contrast and choice about the very different directions each party wants to take our country in the future.”
