Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) voted against the Department of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013 (H.R. 933), which would fund the federal government for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2013. Although today’s bill would continue to fund the federal government, Congress failed to address sequestration.
“While this Senate compromise provides funding for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2013, it fails to address the destructive cuts caused by sequestration. Congress missed an opportunity to end these reckless cuts, which are harming our families, our military readiness and hindering our nation’s economic recovery.”
Congresswoman Betty McCollum serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
