Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) issued the following statement. She responded to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton's letter, which urged Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) to pass legislation that allows for the construction of an extra-dosed, mega-bridge to replace the current Stillwater Lift Bridge.
"Governor Dayton is right that the burden of passing this legislation squarely rests with Congresswoman Bachmann. It's doubtful this flawed bill will pass the House on the Governor's timeline. I will continue working for a more fiscally-responsible, appropriately-scaled replacement bridge for Stillwater."
Congresswoman Betty McCollum serves on the House Appropriations and Budget Committees.
