Congresswoman Betty McCollum

Representing the 4th District of Minnesota

Hazardous Waste Cleanup at 888 N. Prior Street in St. Paul

The U.S Environmental Protection Agency has begun an intensive, $1.6 million dollar cleanup of hazardous waste at 888 North Prior Street, the former location of Plating, Inc. in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood.

As your U.S. Representative, Congresswoman McCollum is working with the EPA, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Ramsey County, the City of St. Paul, and other stakeholders to ensure there is a coordinated environmental response that thoroughly cleans up the site and protects public health and safety. In response to resident concerns that Congresswoman McCollum raised, the EPA has already arranged for 24-hour security at the cleanup site.

To keep neighbors fully informed regarding this cleanup, Congresswoman McCollum’s office is convening a neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, August 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newell Park Building, located at 900 Fairview Avenue North in St. Paul. You can learn more about that meeting here.

The Environmental Protection Agency has prepared a fact sheet and a longer memorandum about the cleanup that may be of interest to community members. You can find those resources here.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Congresswoman McCollum’s St. Paul office at 651-224-9191.
