Hazardous Waste Cleanup at 888 N. Prior Street in St. Paul
The U.S Environmental Protection Agency has begun an intensive, $1.6 million dollar cleanup of hazardous waste at 888 North Prior Street, the former location of Plating, Inc. in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood.
As your U.S. Representative, Congresswoman McCollum is working with the EPA, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Ramsey County, the City of St. Paul, and other stakeholders to ensure there is a coordinated environmental response that thoroughly cleans up the site and protects public health and safety.
In response to resident concerns that Congresswoman McCollum raised, the EPA has already arranged for 24-hour security at the cleanup site. To keep neighbors fully informed regarding this cleanup, Congresswoman McCollum’s office convened neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, August 15 at the Newell Park Building to discuss the cleanup and address concerns.
In addition, Congresswoman McCollum has formally requested that the EPA, in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota, pursue federal criminal charges against the owners and responsible individuals at Plating, Inc.
