U.S. Rep. McCollum: President Trump and Elon Musk Must Work Together with Congress to Conduct Oversight

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump and Elon Musk addressed members of the media during a live press conference in the Oval Office. In response, Congresswoman Betty McCollum released the following statement:

“President Trump and Mr. Musk need to adhere to the laws and Constitution of the United States. Their illegal actions have unleashed confusion among the American people and put our national security at risk. That is why the courts have rightfully intervened to pause this chaos.

“President Trump and Mr. Musk have an obligation to work together with Congress to conduct oversight in a transparent way that protects Americans’ privacy and maintains vital services without undermining our national security.”

“I fully support auditing our government agencies. I have been a leading voice in the effort to push the Pentagon to conduct audits. The American people have the right to know how their tax dollars are used by the government, and audits are the most effective method of ensuring agencies are held to account and spending public funds wisely.”
