McCollum Urges President Biden to Facilitate Ceasefire

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement today:

"I strongly support President Biden’s decision to travel to Israel at this critical time. I urge him to use this visit to begin facilitating a ceasefire among all parties to prevent the loss of more innocent lives in Israel and Gaza. However, a ceasefire cannot be one-sided. That includes Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah, and other parties. The international community must work together to restore the delivery of food, water, power, and medical supplies to Gaza.

"All people deserve safety and security – and in the wake of the heinous attacks by Hamas, the violence that has followed, and the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, the only sustainable path forward is one where international human rights and international law are at the forefront."
