McCollum Statement on Recent Violence in Israel
Congresswoman Betty McCollum released the following statement:
"As Muslims, Jews, and Christians gather to celebrate Ramadan, Passover, and Easter, this is a time for prayer and peace in the Holy Land. It is not a time for conflict," Congresswoman McCollum said. "Today's violence targeting Palestinian worshipers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem is unacceptable, and I call on Israel to deescalate tensions. The recent violence against Israelis is also unacceptable and must end. At this crucial moment, it is imperative that the Biden administration use America's diplomatic leverage to work with Israelis and Palestinians to prevent further violence while assuring the American people that U.S. military weapons are not being used against peaceful Palestinian worshipers."
