McCollum Statement in Observance of Memorial Day 2024
Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) released the following statement today ahead of Monday's observance of Memorial Day:
“On Memorial Day, we reflect on the sacrifices and lives of our fallen heroes. As we gather in Minnesota and in communities all across America to pay tribute, please join me in taking a moment to reflect and offer our nation’s gratitude for all those who have given the last true measure of devotion in service to our nation. Without our brave Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, Airmen, and Guardians, and their families, we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today. Memorial Day is a time when we as citizens recommit to doing all we can to uphold freedom and democracy—the cornerstones of our American values, which our fallen soldiers gave their lives to protect.”
The 156th National Memorial Day Observance will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, May 27 at 11:00am ET/10:00am CT. The service will be livestreamed here.
