McCollum Statement Mourning Loss of “Daughter of Rondo,” USAID Officer Madeline Williams

April 13, 2021

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) released the following statement today:

"I am profoundly saddened to learn of the death of Madeline Williams, a 28-year career officer with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Ms. Williams was a ‘Daughter of Rondo' with deep roots in Saint Paul. Coming from a family so committed to public service, she in turn lived an extraordinary life of service and care for others. As a dedicated member of the USAID family, Madeline exemplified the best among our Foreign Service Officers who provide security by building hope, stability, and resilience around the globe. Her unwavering commitment to make the world a better place truly made a lasting difference in the lives of so many.

"My condolences are with her husband and children, her family in Minnesota, and the entire USAID family."
