McCollum Statement on Memo on Call Between President Trump and Ukrainian President

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) released the following statement today after the release of a memo detailing a phone conversation between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy:

"What I've seen related to Mr. Trump's phone call with the President of Ukraine should set off alarm bells all across this country. There is no doubt that a constitutional response from Congress is required, and that means pursuing impeachment. By explicitly asking a foreign leader to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, President Trump has engaged in an unprecedented act of corruption that undermines our national security and election integrity. While I have no hesitation fulfilling my oath to protect and defend the Constitution, it is time for Republicans in Congress to ask themselves whether their allegiance is to Mr. Trump or to our democracy."
