McCollum Statement on FY 2024 Government Funding Agreement

January 8, 2024

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) released the following statement on the FY 2024 Appropriations topline agreement:

“Republican chaos and dysfunction has put our economy at risk – wasting seven months and causing great uncertainty for Americans. Now, as they decide to return to the topline Fiscal Year 2024 funding agreement they negotiated with Democrats last June, the government will stay open and we can finally move forward and do our jobs to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year. I am disappointed the deal includes cuts to enforcement against ultra-wealthy tax cheats who don’t pay their fair share to the Internal Revenue Service, which will only lead to an additional losses of federal revenue. The question remains: Will Republicans keep their promise this time and honor the $1.659 trillion total they previously agreed to and voted for?”
