McCollum Statement on Electoral College Confirmation by Congress

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-Minn.) issued the following statement today ahead of the January 6 joint session:

“On Wednesday, I will vote to certify the Electoral College results and affirm the decision of the American people who democratically and legally elected President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris. Mr. Trump, his supporters, and Congressional Republicans clearly seek to reverse the election results with a scheme that combines deceit, corruption, and intimidation. This Republican ploy only serves to poison our politics, weaken our democracy, and soil our Constitution. In every election there is a winner and loser. In this election, Donald Trump is the loser and Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States on January 20.”
