McCollum Recognizes U.S. Service Academy Nominees

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) recently held a recognition evening for the 11 Fourth District individuals who are entering a U.S. Service Academy after being nominated by the Congresswoman. Following the recognition, McCollum released the following statement:

"I am inspired by what these individuals have already achieved here at home, and thankful that each has stood up to answer the call to service by entering a U.S. Service Academy," Congresswoman McCollum said. "I deeply value their dedication, and am proud to support their ongoing commitment to serve our nation. A heartfelt congratulations and best of luck for what's ahead!"

Each nominee received and accepted an appointment to attend their respective U.S. Service Academy:

  • Ismail Bah (U.S. Naval Academy Prep School; Mahtomedi High School) – U.S. Naval Academy
  • Amy Binder (Mounds View High School) – U.S. Naval Academy
  • Joseph Hong (Mounds View High School) – U.S. Naval Academy
  • Matthew Korf (St. Thomas Academy) – U.S. Naval Academy
  • Carter Lessard (Mounds View High School) – U.S. Military Academy
  • Eric Liveringhouse (Stillwater Area High School) – U.S. Air Force Academy
  • Riley Lockwood (Totino Grace High School) – U.S. Naval Academy
  • Calvin Marcellus (Irondale High School) – U.S. Military Academy
  • PFC Samuel Olson, USAR (University of Wisconsin-River Falls; Woodbury, MN) – U.S. Military Academy
  • Benjamin Weber (Cretin-Derham Hall) – U.S. Air Force Academy
  • Karl Westermeyer (Cretin-Derham Hall) – U.S. Air Force Academy
