McCollum Announces Winners of 2022 Congressional Art Competition

Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04), today announced the winners of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition in Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District:

Sophia Huang of Mounds View High School took first place for her artwork "Autumn." Grace Erickson of Concordia Academy finished in second place with "Jubilant," and Elsa Mechelke of Highland Park High Schooltook third place with "San Juan Islands."

"The Fourth District is home to a thriving arts scene, with artists who enrich our lives with their work, creativity, and talent," Congresswoman McCollum said. "Through the Congressional Art Competition, I'm proud to have the opportunity to amplify young artists and their inspiring work to a wider audience. I congratulate and thank each of the entrants for participating in this year's competition."

The first place winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside winners from across the U.S.In addition, runners-up will be displayed in Congresswoman McCollum's offices in Saint Paul and in Washington, D.C. The competition was open to Fourth District high school students and attracted dozens of entries. At a recent recognition evening, Congresswoman McCollum had the chance to greet all three winners and congratulate them on their work.
