Congresswoman Betty McCollum Statement on Three-Month Continuing Resolution

September 26, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement after voting in favor of a three-month continuing resolution (CR) to avert a government shutdown:

“I’m glad that we avoided a government shutdown, but I’m disappointed that the House Republican majority wasted four weeks pushing a partisan agenda rather than working with Democrats to get our work done on time,” said Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04). “Passing CR after CR is no way to fund our government. Funding the government is serious work that requires the support of Democrats and Republicans in both the House and Senate. Moving forward, I hope that House Republicans will drop their poison-pill demands in favor of a bipartisan approach on final 2025 funding bills.”

The Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 passed the U.S. House of Representatives on a bipartisan vote of 341-82.

H.R. 9747 will keep the federal government open through December 20th.
