U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum Statement on Withdrawal of President Trump's Shutdown Memo
SAINT PAUL, Minn. — In response to the announcement by the White House Office of Management and Budget that President Trump’s federal funding freeze was rescinded, Congresswoman Betty McCollum released the following statement:
“The announcement that President Trump has temporarily paused his illegal and unconstitutional shutdown of the federal government leaves Americans with more confusion, more chaos, and more questions.
“President Trump’s government shutdown memo was swiftly blocked by a federal judge yesterday, and today he was forced to withdraw it. However, three January 20 executive orders remain in place, which have a negative impact on all government agencies and contracts. I’m working with my fellow Democrats to stop the president from committing illegal acts, and to follow the Constitution.
“Project 2025 was an instruction manual, and the White House is following it step-by-step. Make no mistake: The President will try again to halt federal funding for key services that the American people rely on. This isn’t leadership. President Trump should work with Democrats to finish the job of funding the government for Fiscal Year 2025 and get to work with us on the 2026 budget.
